Graystone Cattle Company 7th Annual Production Sale
Welcome to another episode of the American Cattlemen Podcast and our Producer Profile. Just ahead, we have Gale McKinney, the Publisher of American Cattlemen, and Stuart Gilbert with Graystone Cattle Company from Stockport, Iowa. Stuart Gilbert from Greystone Cattle Company discussed their upcoming seventh annual production sale on March 21, 2025, featuring aged bulls, yearling bulls, replacement heifers, and semen opportunities. The ranch, established in 1841, focuses on functional Red Angus cattle with strong structural integrity. They emphasize growth and power, aiming for 1500-pound calves to maximize carcass size. The sale will include Sin City daughters, proven females, and Australian Kelpies. The sale will be online, with bulls held until May 1. Contact details are available on their website.
Greystone cattle is a family owned and operated registered Red Angus herd located in Southeast Iowa on the land their family has owned since the ground was patented in 1841 Greystone purchased their first Red Angus females in 1990 and converted their commercial herd to all Red Angus. Shortly thereafter, their herd is based on the principle that sound, functional cattle can have both performance and phenotype. Greystone will not sacrifice structural integrity to pursue a fad, whether as an EPD or the bull of the month, the cow herd runs like their commercial customers, herds with cows grazing on endophyte infected fescue for much of the year.
